Best Foods + Beverages for Fat Burning

Everyone seems to be looking for the next big diet trend. You know, the one that takes no work whatsover and you just take the pill or eat the supplement and VOILÁ you are shredded with a six pack and the perfect aesthetic physique.

Well these aren't magic foods or beverages. They are actually pretty basic and well-know...most of you likely have them in your home! Did you know that Coffee is considered to be a fat burner? Newsflash hunnnyyy! It is.

Below I have provided a list with all the foods that burn all the excess fat. Some sources you may have known, some may be a surprise. Speaking of surprises...we want to offer all our readers a free macros guide PDF. Just click here and it's all yours! No this isn't a scam -- we are really giving it to you free of charge, so take it... it will help!

1. Coffee

Coffee!! WHAT -- This has to be some kind of April Fools joke (wait is it even April?) ...Coffee is my favorite and first meal of the day! Coffee is also one of the most popular beverages worldwide.

It's a great source of caffeine..which can enhance mood and improve mental and physical performance. More importantly, it can help you burn fat.

Caffeine can increase RMR (resting metabolic rate) by 3–11%, with larger doses having a greater effect (Interestingly, most of the increase in metabolism is caused by an increase in fat burning.

Caffeine increases your resting metabolic rate, which means it increases the number of calories you burn at rest.

2. Fatty Fish

Fatty fish is so good for you. The most popular being: Salmon. This is the easiest fatty fish to add to your daily meals. Most restaurant and health food stores have an abundance of salmon options.

Other common Fatty fishes are: herring (yuck), sardines, mackerel and other oily fish contain omega-3 fatty acids. Fatty Fishes tend to reduce inflammation and decrease heart disease risk. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids may help you lose body fat.

Some turn their noses up to fish (me lol), but if you enjoy fish, be sure to incorporate these for their awesome fat burning effects!

3. Whole Eggs

Eggs are packed with nutrition! Such an easy source to consume as you can find them just about anywhere. Take them hard boiled <add to a salad, or just eat alone>, scrambled, over easy, so many delicious options!

Egg yolks used to be avoided due to high cholesterol, however whole eggs have actually been shown to help protect heart health! And BONUS eggs are a weight loss food.

When eating egg-based meals for breakfast you reduce hunger and promote feelings of fullness for several hours.

Eggs are a great source of high-quality protein. This can increase metabolic rate by about 20–35% for several hours after eating. So obviously eat more eggs...

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is packed with health benefits. And also happens to be a good moisturizer :)

Adding coconut oil to your diet appears to increase "good" HDL cholesterol and helps  you lose weight.

Fats in coconut oil are mostly MCTs: This has appetite-suppressing and fat-burning properties. Adding small amounts of coconut oil (roughly 2 tbsp) can help significantly maximize fat burning!

5. Whey Protein

Whey protein is absolutely incredible! And so unbelievably easy to add to a meal or to make as an entire meal (not a full liquid diet obviously lol) Whey Protein promotes muscle growth when combined with exercise. Whey protein more effectively suppresses appetite than other protein sources!

Whey protein  stimulates the release of Leptin AKA the "fullness hormones”.

Whey boosts fat burning and promotes weight loss! My Brand of choice is 1st Phorm Phormula One. With so many brands out there it is important to do your research and find a protein that compliments your needs (digestion, intolerances, etc).

6. Chili Peppers

Chili peppers! Hot and spicy fat burning fuel! Ahhhh I tried to do spicy, but my weak taste buds can hardly handle pepper haha! But if you like a little spice in your life, this will add the spice and sizzle the fat!

Chili peppers have powerful antioxidants that can reduce inflammation. An active component in chili peppers: capsaicin,  helps you achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

This promotes fullness and prevents overeating -- this compound may also help you burn more calories and lose body fat!

Consider eating chili peppers or using powdered cayenne pepper to spice up and slim down!

7. Olive Oil

Olive oil is one of my personal favorites and it just so happens to be one of the healthiest fats!

It has been shown to stimulate the release of leptin, one of the hunger hormones. Olive oil may boost metabolic rate and promote fat loss.

I love incorporating olive oil in my meals, from adding it to my roasted veggies or using it on my salad - great additive to your meal.

 8. Leafy Greens

Leafy greens are fabulous for you, so many benefits to incorporating these in your diet low calories + loaded with fiber with minimal carbs! Greens are great for fat loss! Greens include kale, spinach, collards, and a few others.

Adding leafy greens to your meals increases the size of your meals without increasing the calories. Greens are incredibly nutritious, they are high in many vitamins, antioxidants and minerals, which includes calcium. Calcium has been shown to aid fat burning!

9. Lean Beef and Chicken Breast

Meat has been unfairly demonized. Now its not for everyone, and thats ok, no judgements here.

Meat has been blamed for various health problems despite a lack of good evidence to back up these negative claims.

Though processed meat is unhealthy, studies show that unprocessed red meat does not raise the risk of heart disease or diabetes.

The truth is, meat is a weight-loss-friendly food because it's high in protein.

Protein is by far the most filling nutrient, and eating a high-protein diet can make you burn up to 80–100 more calories per day

Increasing your protein intake to 25–% of daily calories can cut cravings by 60%, reduce your desire for late-night snacking (my biggest downfall) by half and cause weight loss of almost one pound (0.45 kg) per week!!!

Be sure to get your fill out meat.. it will help you not want to eat ;)

10. Avocados

Avocados are all the rage. Avocado toast, guacamole, avocado pudding, you name it, there is an avocado version of it.. (or i'm dramatic)

While most fruits are high in carbs, avocados are loaded with healthy fats.

They’re particularly high in monounsaturated oleic acid, the same type of fat found in my favorite: olive oil.

Despite being mostly fat, avocados also contain a lot of water and fiber, making them less energy-dense than you may think.

Avocados are a perfect addition to vegetable salads! I love to mix them up into a dressing!  They also contain many important nutrients, including fiber and potassium

11. Nuts

Despite being addictive as crack, nuts are high in fat, however nuts are not as fattening as you would expect.

Nuts are the perfect snack, containing balanced amounts of protein, fiber and healthy fats.

Studies have shown that eating nuts can improve metabolic health and even promote weight loss

What’s more, population studies have shown that people who eat nuts tend to be as nutty as the amount of nuts they eat! Jk, they tend to be healthier and leaner than those who don't.

Just try your hardest not to go nuts (no pun intended), as they’re still fairly high in calories. If you tend to binge and eat massive amounts of nuts, it would be better to avoid them. Your waistline will thank you lol.

12. Fruit

WHAT? Fruit? Yes. Its actually not bad for you. Most health experts agree that fruit is healthy.

Fruits do have properties that make them weight-loss-friendly. Even though they contain natural sugar, they have a low energy density and take a while to chew. Plus, their fiber content helps prevent sugar from being released too quickly into your bloodstream. Certain fruits are higher in sugar than others, so its good to be mindful of which fruits are better for you if you are trying to achieve fat/weight-loss.

For most fruits can be an effective and delicious addition to a weight loss diet.

Summary

The kind of foods you choose to add to your diet can aide in your weight/fat-loss! But keep in mind they also play a key role in your HEALTH long term. So as amazing as it is that these foods have fat-burning components its also important to consume foods that are nutritious and good fuel for your body! Health is your wealth baby!
